Man in Wheelchair Seriously Injured by 2 Dogs

DogBite

When a dog is chasing you, your first instinct may be to run. But that’s not possible if you’re in a wheelchair. You’re at a disadvantage and you could suffer severe injuries. `

Unfortunately, this recently happened to a man in Florida. The man suffered serious injuries to his arm after two unleashed dogs attacked him while he was in his wheelchair. The dog attack occurred on the afternoon of January 24 in the area of Northwest 10th Street and Fifth Avenue in Florida City.

The man was seriously injured and was airlifted to Jackson South Trauma by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. Nobody else was injured in the attack. Animal control arrived at the scene to secure the dogs. One was identified as a pit bull. Animal control took away one dog. It is unknown what will happen to it.

The victim’s wheelchair was seen stained with blood. Neighbors witnessed the attack. One man saw the attack unfold as he went around the corner. Another neighbor heard sirens and thought there was a car accident. She then saw the man lying on the ground. The man and the dog were both full of blood, she said. Both neighbors were unfamiliar with the dogs and said they were runaways.

It is unclear who owns the dogs. The owners have not yet been found.

Why Are Pit Bulls So Dangerous?

When you think of dangerous dogs, pit bulls likely come to mind. Pit bull attacks are common and they are often deadly. But why are pit bulls so dangerous?

Pit bulls are not recognized as a breed of dog by the American Kennel Club (AKC). That’s because they are a mixed breed. They are larger, slower dogs crossed with smaller, quicker terriers to produce an agile and athletic dog used for fighting other dogs. Some pit bulls were selected and bred for their fighting ability.

Because of this, many pit bulls will fight with other dogs and even attack people. Statistics show that bulls make up only 6% of the dog population, but they’re responsible for 68% of dog attacks.

Many people believe that pit bulls are inherently dangerous because violence is in their DNA. Pit bulls were specifically bred to go into pits with incredible aggression and fight. In any case, pit bull owners need to be responsible and ensure their dogs do not harm others.
